New Blog
Okay, I'll explain.
I checked out tumblr.com today and they had a list of "30 Reasons You'll Love Tumblr". So, naturally I thought, "I wonder what those reasons are?" And I clicked on the list. And I gotta say, Tumblr looks pretty spiffy. And, no offense Google, but it looks spiffier than Blogger.
Basically, the idea I get from Tumblr is that it's sort of like a blog, and sort of like a microblog, but also sort of not, and it's kind of just a thing to post stuff on. Like anything. Photos, videos, media, words, captions, tweets, whatever. It also integrates with Twitter; I absolutely love Twitter, but sometimes a tweet of 140 characters just doesn't cut it. And now I can write everything in one place.
So I wanted to think of a cool, creative, clever (C^3) name for a Tumblr blog, and I could use "Thoughts of an ADD Adolescent", but I wanted to see if I could come up with something a little more creative. So I wrote a list of stuff that I could potentially write/blog/tweet/post/whatever about (it's the previous post). So now I'm gonna try to think of a name based on that list. And then I can start using Tumblr.

The effect of caffeine on the body
...or, rather, the brain? The brain and the body.
I was feeling particularly "caffeinated" this morning, and it got me thinking, what exactly does that mean? How does it feel to be "caffeinated"?
I should add that I didn't have any coffee, or other source of caffeine, this morning. For some reason I just feel like I did. A lot.

Moments
Do you ever have a moment when you realize something really big? Like if you understood the meaning of life? Or it just clicked for you that you were about to go to college. Or you found someone who understands you, and you can't explain, but it just feels right, and you know that they "get it".
I've been having a lot of those lately. I suppose it's just a part of growing up. Maturing.
Edit (6/13/11 4:20-ish PM): Umm, I don't remember what this was about. Awkward sweater...
Wait, another edit (6/13/2011 4:25 PM): Ohh, maybe I do remember. But I'm not sure. Oh well. Still awkcity... :p

Deerfield High School's Spring Shows
Spring shows at DHS are typically two smaller shows: a musical, and a student written company show. They are performed by the Musical Theatre/Company class, and stage crew is traditionally run by lowerclassmen/non-seniors.
I'm on stage crew for Lucky Stiff, the musical. Even though it's really stressful to be doing two shows at once (in the same space, no less), it is, of course an extremely beneficial experience. We've been staying late at school almost every single night, and today, the Saturday before opening week (a tech rehearsal, where we run through the show as we actually would), we stayed at school all day, and still late at night. It's that kind of thing that makes stage crew such a great group to be a part of. We grow so close when we spend more hours with each other than we do at home. Not many clubs bond people together like that. So I'm appreciative for that.

What now?
Osama bin Laden has just been killed by U.S. special forces. We rejoice. We remember. Life goes on.
This feels so momentous. It feels as if we should do something. Many will celebrate. Celebrate what? Hatred?
But will life change? Rather, will we notice the change? I suppose it doesn't matter; for if our lives have been made better over an alternate that we shall never know about, they are still better, through and through.
And what can we possibly do but go on living? We are but mere specks, tiny ants in a huge world. The nation, the people, are holding their breath. They are fearless. They are scared. They are looking for a leader. Someone who is confident. Someone with a sense of purpose, a "fearless" man. People will get what they want. Obama's speech was what we could've expected, but that doesn't mean it wasn't moving.
They say ignorance is bliss. Are they right? I can't say for sure. But I could see how that could be so. Time will tell what we'll do. Until then, we have no choice but to follow blindly, our leader who knows as much as we do, but doesn't let it show (which, again, isn't bad). It makes us feel confident, makes us feel safe, and comforts us.
Edit 9:59 PM 5/2/11: Yesterday, the day that Osama bin Laden was killed, was Holocaust Rememberance Day. Just an interesting tidbit, and something to think about.

Invisible Children 25 Event
Right now, I am staying silent for 25 hours to raise awareness about the child soldiers used for 25 years of war in central Africa. Anyways, I have a lot to say about that, but I'm extremely tired right now and can't articulate it at the moment.
However, I will note that this silence thing is harder than I thought it would be! It's frustrating to not be able to communicate.
At first, I thought about someone who is deaf/mute. Well, mute at least. This must be what that is like. I can't imagine not being able to hear, either. But it's actually really frustrating. There are a lot of little things that I just let slide just because it's too difficult to worry about them without speaking. I also realize how many stupid things I usually say, since I have to catch myself before I say anything.
But a video I just watched from Invisible Children talked about thinking about how families in Africa feel. They aren't literally silent, but they feel silenced. They are, for the most part, defenseless against a raging army that wants nothing but war. No matter how hard they cry out, they can't stop Joseph Kony and his Lord's Resistance Army (LRA). That's why it's so important that we help them--we can't just stand and watch them cry out in silence. And that's why I'm silent--to speak out without speaking and end this war.
