However, I will note that this silence thing is harder than I thought it would be! It's frustrating to not be able to communicate.
At first, I thought about someone who is deaf/mute. Well, mute at least. This must be what that is like. I can't imagine not being able to hear, either. But it's actually really frustrating. There are a lot of little things that I just let slide just because it's too difficult to worry about them without speaking. I also realize how many stupid things I usually say, since I have to catch myself before I say anything.
But a video I just watched from Invisible Children talked about thinking about how families in Africa feel. They aren't literally silent, but they feel silenced. They are, for the most part, defenseless against a raging army that wants nothing but war. No matter how hard they cry out, they can't stop Joseph Kony and his Lord's Resistance Army (LRA). That's why it's so important that we help them--we can't just stand and watch them cry out in silence. And that's why I'm silent--to speak out without speaking and end this war.
